Depriving women of the most basic education, the ability to read and write, has always been used to keep them from becoming independent thinkers, wanting more for themselves, and from taking active roles in public life. This photographic composite was shot and created in 2019.

Meet the Artist
Victoria West is a master of photographic arts, an activist, a storyteller and an NFT artist. She's built a successful portrait studio business and brand over the last 13 years, and is an active member of the photographer community.
In 2021, Victoria made history after being named Portrait Photographer of the Year for the 3rd consecutive year in a row by the Professional Photographers of Canada. She's also been selected to represent Canada in the World Photographic Cup in 2019, 2020, and 2021, and brought home a bronze medal in 2019.
