This photographic portrait was inspired by Catherine of Aragon, the Spanish Princess and later Queen of England as the first wife of King Henry VIII.
Before traveling to England to marry, Catherine spent a few years at the breathtaking Moorish palace, the Alhambra, in Granada. The backdrop of this portrait I photographed there.
The culture shock Catherine would have experienced after arriving in England must have been great, yet she was much loved by the English people and even became the first known female ambassador in European history.
This is a multi award winning photograph.
